Monday 4th August - Lerwick

  • 2.00pm to 4.00pm:
    Regrade Yourself Workshop @ Islesburgh Centre
  • 7.00pm to 10.00pm:
    Dance @ Islesburgh Centre with the Jim Halcrow Dance Band - Learn the dances you'll experience in Shetland at a "Get to know your fellow students" dance
  • 10.00pm till late:
    Late Night Session (Grand Hotel) - with the Shetland Fiddlers

Tuesday 5th August - Lerwick

  • 10.30am to 12.30pm:
    Workshop @ Islesburgh Centre
  • 2.00pm to 4.00pm:
    Workshop @ Islesburgh Centre
    or
    Trip - Cookery demonstration at Shetland College with local ingredients
    or
    Trip - Visit the Bod of Gremista, birthplace of Arthur Anderson
  • 7.30pm:
    Concert @ Garrison Theatre with the Jenna Reid Band; Bryan Gear & Violet Tulloch and Shetland Wedding Traditions featuring Shetland Fiddlers, young music tutors and storytellers
  • 10.00pm till late:
    Late Night Session @ Grand Hotel

Wednesday 6th August - Walls

A bus will take you to and from Walls. Lunch and evening meals are provided

  • 10.30am to 12.30pm:
    Workshop
  • 2.00pm to 4.00pm:
    Workshop
    or
    Trip - Jamieson's Spinning Mill with stories from your guide
  • 7.30pm:
    Concert "An Evening With..." @ Walls Hall with prominent musicians playing and talking about their music and Shetland's musical culture
    followed by
    Dance with Leeshinat

The bus leaves Walls at 12.30am, arriving back in Lerwick at 1.30am

Thursday 7th August - Lerwick

Friday 8th August - Unst

A bus and two ferries will take you to and from Unst. Lunch and evening meals are provided

  • 10.30am to 12.30am:
    Workshop
  • 2.00pm to 4.00pm:
    Workshop
    or
    Trip - Tour Unst, Britain's most northerly island, guided by a local storyteller
  • 7.30pm:
    Concert @ Baltasound Hall with Drop The Box, Catriona McDonald & Annbjorg Lien and support
    followed by a
    Dance

A bus leaves Unst at 12.30am, arriving in Lerwick around 3.00am

Alternative Lerwick day

  • 2pm to 4pm:
    Trip - experience a Shetland cookery demonstration with a difference as Eunice Henderson cooks, tells stories and plays the fiddle
  • 7.30pm:
    Storytelling Concert @ Garrison Theatre with local and visiting storytellers and music from Ewen Thompson

A bus leaves Unst at 4.30pm and arrives in Lerwick around 7.00pm

  • 10.00pm till late:
    Late Night Session @ Grand Hotel

NB: It is not possible to do the morning workshop in Unst and the afternoon trip in Lerwick. However, you can do both the workshops and trip in Unst, followed by the concert in Lerwick

Saturday 9th August - Lerwick

  • 10.00am to 4.00pm:
    Trip - Visit Dr Tom Anderson's birthplace and grave, and see the Eshaness Cliffs, with lunch at Braewick cafe
  • 7.30pm:
    Concert @ Garrison Theatre with Drop The Box, Fullscelidh Spelemannslag and storytellers
  • 10.00pm till late:
    Late Night Session @ Grand Hotel

Sunday 10th August - Lerwick

  • 2.30pm:
    Concert @ Garrison Theatre "The music of Gideon Stove" - A tribute to one of Shetland's 'music masters' featuring The Alan Gifford Quartet, Bryan Gear & Violet Tulloch and others
  • 5.00pm till late.........
    Final Fling Party @ The Lounge Bar
